Surface water quality continues to decline due to pressures from domestic, agricultural, and industrial activities, including along the Klawing River in Purbalingga Regency, which is essential for community needs and the Serayu watershed ecosystem. This study aimed to assess the water quality of the Klawing River and formulate a river restoration perspective grounded in environmental technology. A quantitative descriptive approach was applied through field surveys and laboratory analysis at three sampling points representing the upstream, middle, and downstream sections. The measured parameters included temperature, TDS, pH, BOD, COD, and DO, which were then compared with the water quality standards set forth in Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 and evaluated using the STORET method. The results showed that temperature, TDS, and pH still met the standards, while COD was 70 mg/L at point 1, 28.8 mg/L at point 2, and 47 mg/L at point 3, and DO was only 2.85 mg/L at point 1, 5 mg/L at point 2, and 2.25 mg/L at point 3. STORET scores indicated that sampling points 1 and 3 were moderately polluted with scores of -16, whereas point 2 was slightly polluted with a score of -4. These findings confirm that organic pollution remains the main pressure on the river. Therefore, river management should focus on adaptive restoration strategies based on environmental technology, such as IoT, AI, GIS, and digital monitoring, to support pollution control and watershed sustainability.
