Kitab Tarjamah Pegon Matan Jazariyah: Telaah Deskriptif terhadap Isi dan Karakteristik Penyajiannya

This article aims to examine the characteristics of the Kitab Jazariyah in terms of its content and presentation, particularly in the Pegon-script translation version. Kitab Jazariyah is a classical work in the field of Tajwid, authored by Shaykh Muhammad bin Muhammad Ibn al-Jazari, a highly authoritative scholar in the sciences of Qira’at and Tajwid. The book serves as a refinement of his earlier work, Wifaqu Tilawah, which also discusses the fundamental theories of Tajwid. In the Nusantara region, especially in Java and Madura, the book has received significant attention from Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). One form of appreciation for this work is the translation into Javanese using the Pegon script, as carried out by Kiai Masajid bin Hasan. This translated work was published by Maktabah Ahmad Numan in Kediri, East Java.The method used in this study is library research, focusing on the analysis of the Pegon-script translation of Kitab Jazariyah by Kiai Masajid, supported by secondary literature such as relevant books and academic articles. The findings indicate that Jazariyah not only presents the theories of Tajwid in a systematic manner but also serves as an effective medium for learning, as it is composed in the form of nazam (rhythmic poetry), which facilitates memorization. The existence of the Pegon version further contextualizes this book within the educational tradition of pesantren in Indonesia.
